Ferret Games
By LA Productions

If you’re a fellow ferret fan, here’s some games you might like to try with your ferrets:

Weasel Wonder Slide. Use a 1 x 4 foot piece of slick board propped against your sofa. Add a drop of Ferretone in the middle of the board. Let your ferret do the rest.

Weasel Wonder Crinkle Ball. Start with a plastic “ferret ball” or cut ferret-size holes in a ferret-size ball. Add a few crinkly cellophane wrappers and one or more ferrets. Watch the fun.

Weasel Wonder Tether Ball. String a whiffle ball or cat ball on a fish line. Tie it to two widely separated chair legs at ferret level. Flick it past your ferret until he learns to flick it himself.

Weasel Wonder Fishing. (This is also good practice for regular fishing.) Tie a fake mouse on the line of your fishing pole. Cast your mouse in the direction of your ferret. Twitch it a few times. When he grabs it, set the hook. Just kidding. Fake mice dont have hooks.

Weasel Wonder Chute. Use a five-foot long section of four-inch diameter PVC pipe. (Get it at the Hiland Park Hardware store across the street from Aqualand). Prop it up on your couch. Add a drop of Ferretone and launch one of your ferrets down the tube. Repeat if necessary.

Weasel Wonder Cave. Don’t throw away that old pair of pants. Cut a leg off and toss it in the middle of the floor. Lift one end of the cave and let your ferret figure out the rest.

Weasel Wonder Swing. Hang a basket some two feet off the floor. Drape it with a towel. Your ferrets quickly learn to climb up and swing. Use a stout support.

Weasel Wonder Maze Box. Start with a larger cardboard box. Cut ferret-size holes in two sides. Put several smaller boxes inside (also with ferret-size holes). Close the top. Show the maze to your ferret(s). You’ll probably have to dig them out later.

Weasel Wonder Trampoline. Crumple newspapers or cellophane into several balls. Cover with a flat piece of newspaper or a sheet. Add one ferret.

Weasel Wonder Box-o-Balls. Fill a medium sized box 1/3 with crumpled balls of newspaper, whiffle balls, or ping pong balls. Introduce your ferret.

Weasel Wonder Finger Box. Cut lots of one-inch holes in a medium sized box. Add your ferrets. Put a drop of Ferretone on your finger. Speedily poke it in several of the holes. (Don’t try this with a strange ferret.) This also gives you some exercise.

Weasel Wonder Submarine. Add three or four inches of tepid water to your bath tub. Add one or more ferrets. Toss in several ping pong balls or other floating balls. You get more action if you put a drop of Ferretone on the floating balls.

Weasel Wonder Sack. Fill a paper sack with crumpled paper balls. Add your ferret to the sack or dump the sack on his head.

Weasel Wonder Bull Fight. Play matador while sitting on a slick floor and holding a small towel. Your ferret will run at the towel like a bull, snag the towel, and let you spin him around the floor. Olé.

Weasel Wonder Bobbing. Float a ping pong ball in a bowl or pan half-filled with water. Let your ferret “bob” for the weasel wonder balls. Ice cubes work also. Put a towel underneath your container.

Weasel Wonder Ping Pong. Hang a small ball from the ceiling. Leave the ball about two inches above the floor. You get better bounces if you hang it in a doorway. Make sure you use stout string.

Spin the Weasel. While sitting on a slick floor slide your ferret around on his back or belly. Saying “vroom, vroom” at the same time is optional.

And of course you can add any of the numerous ferret toys you'll find on the market.

Weasel Wonder Training Tip. When training your ferret for the Weasel Wonder Olympics, use a drop of Ferretone as the reward. LA.
