Members of the Manitoba Ferret Association provide ferret-sitting and boarding services. This agreement is intended to ensure the health and safety of the ferret(s). This form is a legally binding contract between the ferret owner requesting ferret sitting service and the MFA member in good standing providing the service.
Fees for boarding vary depending on whether the client is a non-member or a long-term member of the MFA. Fees must be paid in full by cash or certified cheque by the owner requesting the service before this agreement can be activated.
In cases of long-term boarding for periods of thirty (30) days or more, any arrangement to pay by instalments must be pre-approved by the MFA executive. Any ferret(s) left unclaimed by the owner at the end of the boarding period without renewal of the agreement for further boarding services (and partial payment if applicable) becomes the property of the Manitoba Ferret Association. The ferret(s) shall be considered surrendered to the Manitoba Ferret Association Shelter for suitable placement in an adoptive home after a grace period of two weeks. The ferret owner may re-claim the ferret(s) by paying the outstanding boarding fees up to and including the two-week grace period.
*All rates as posted on our web site and herein listed may not be current due to delays in revising the web site/agreement form. A member of the MFA must be a member for 3 months prior to the requested dates. The member fee is $5.00 a day per ferret household (households cannot be combined).
Non-members will be charged $10.00 a day. Ferret owner requesting the service must provide a ferret friendly cage, the food, litter, toys and other necessary supplies for the duration of requested service. *The MFA will rent a double-door rabbit cage (same style of cages in use in the shelter) at a rate of $25.00 a week. Used double door rabbit cages are available for purchase from the MFA for $75.00.
