WHY ARE FERRET SHELTERS NEEDED?
Homelessness and animal cruelty are epidemic. Animals of all kinds, ferrets included, are often purchased and then discarded when they become inconvenient. We have all seen and heard of the in-humane conditions found in puppy mills and ferret mills are no different. The animals in these places are being kept in tiny, filthy, unhealthy and uncaring conditions.
Ferrets need our help just as much as any other domestic animal. That is why ferret shelters need to exist. - Alberta Ferret Society -

This is a documentation of terrible abuse suffered by over (at least) 30 ferrets from London, Ontario. While the perpetrator of some of the abuse, Mr. Robert Jarmain, was found guilty of abusing his ferrets the sentence he was handed down was less than he deserved. Harley was brought to our shelter in June of 1997. When we first saw Harley we noticed that his right eye was slightly swollen and he had a chest cold. Our vet suspected Juvenile Lymphosarcoma. (he was only 1 at the time) and in tears, we took him home to die. Read More..
