Ferret Sounds

Just like humans, ferrets make different noises for different emotions. Some ferrets are more talkative than others. I've heard of ferrets that never make a sound, while others chuckle all the time.

DOOK

- A clucking noise that comes from a happy woozel. Some people including I think a dook resembles the sound of a clucking chicken.

HISS

- A hissing sound (sounds like that of a cat only not as scratchy) that comes from an annoyed, mad, or a ferret that wants to play rough.

BARK

- A loud chirp that occurs in a very excited or frightened furball. If your fuzzy makes this noise, make sure you know why, if he is in danger assist him immediately.

SCREECH

- A high-pitched sound accompanined or even replaced by rapid chattering. The Screech is a reaction to extreme pain, fright, or anger. If your fuzzy makes this noise, make sure you know why, if he is in danger assist him immediately.

WHINE

- A low or high complaining cry. Your fuzzy will make this sound if he is injured, wanting attention, or scared. If your fuzzy makes this noise, make sure you know why, if he is in danger assist him immediately.

A ferret makes sounds, that can tell us something about the ferrets mood.

Newborn pups make a soft moaning sound what gets stronger when they grow older.

And then the famous dooking, a kind of sound that sounds like dook-dook-dook.

Ferrets dook when the are excited, You hear it frequently when they are playing.

A Male in heat has a very loud dook.

Ferrets can also scream loud, they do so when they are frightened, they also can empty their analglands.

Playing Ferrets can utter woeful sounds, sounds a bit like a high cry.

Usually the game is a bit rough, does it last to long than step in by separating the animals.

An other panic sound is a fast and vehement, Kek-Kek-Kek, this sound is used when they have pain or are frightened, something is wrong. The animal could be stuck or wounded itself.

An angry ferret can also hiss like a cat. It is a warning sign, You better watch out before I bite you!

Ferrets have very thick skin, so when they play with each other, they bite hard. They will initially interact with humans the same way because they don't realize that it hurts us.
