The MFA
The Manitoba Ferret Association is a nonprofit charitable organization devoted to the well being of all ferrets. The idea of an association started over a cup of coffee back in 1997, when an experienced ferret Mom (Carole G.) was sharing her wealth of information with a newbie ferret mom (Deb K.). The newbie mom wished she could simply ferret-nab her coffee companion, stick her in the car and stuff her in the ferret room for future quick reference when she had yet another question.
Today, a ferret owner has somewhere to turn. If you need immediate help, simply call our Manitoba Ferret Association telephone hotline at 291-8357 for help day or night. If you are wondering who is on the other end of the line, it's no other than our Deb Kelly. Deb's experience started that fateful day when a ferret came in to her life and continued by leaps and bounds when she started the ferret shelter in her home.
Deb has placed many ferrets in good homes and has looked after numerous elderly and terminally ill ferrets. She states that the ferrets have taught her everything she knows and they continually remind her how little she knows by coming up with new health and safety issues!
The Manitoba Ferret Association holds an information booth on the 3rd Saturday afternoon of every calendar month at the Petland on Pembina Highway. You can pick up a free pamphlet on caring for your ferret and talk to members of our association who will gladly answer all your questions.
